A real place for real people
SO&H were seeking planning permission for the Marston Valley development from Central Bedfordshire Council and needed an identity website to facilitate the public consultation element of the application process.
To create an identity and website for Marston Valley which helps to facilitate community engagement, the website needed to speak to multiple audiences including locals, stakeholders and politicians. It also needed to fulfil different requirements such as outlining vision, explaining the planning process, create a community sounding board to collate views, answer questions and keep the community up to date.
We created an identity and website for Marston Valley to involve the local people, and to ensure that their voice was heard. Marston Valley has undergone radical transformation in recent history so the identity stems from the idea of constant change. Inspired by the OS maps of the region we explored the idea of a shifting jigsaw and created a pattern that could be rearranged, added to and edited in order to grow with the evolving scheme. This dynamic illustration reflects the focus on encouraging the public to take part in shaping the future of their communities.
